Senator Craig Thomas passes away

U.S. Senator Craig Thomas passed away this evening at the National Naval Medical Center, the senator’s family said tonight. He was surrounded by loved ones.

Thomas, who had been battling cancer since his re-election in November 2006, had been receiving chemotherapy treatment.

Senator Thomas’s wife, Susan, his sons Patrick and Greg, and daughter, Lexie, were by his side.

The family wants to thank everyone for their prayers during this time.
