Bears & Art in Jackson Hole
July events in Jackson
July 6, 2007

There are two upcoming programs later this month in Jackson Hole that we thought some of our readers might be interested in. The Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation will be hosting a program about coexisting with bears on July 11th and the Art Association will be holding their 42nd Annual Fine Art and Craft Show July 20-22.

Bears in the Backyard: Coexistence and the Nature of Bruins
The Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation is inviting the public to learn more about avoiding bear conflicts by attending a presentation on Wednesday, July 11th, by David Mattson entitled, “Bears in the Backyard: Coexistence and the Nature of Bruins.”

David Mattson is Research Wildlife Biologist for the USGS who has studied large carnivores for the last 27 years. He will talk about bear behavior and how to avoid bear conflicts in the backcountry or around your home if you live in bear country. Additionally, Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation has invited Wyoming Game and Fish Department Bear Biologist, Leon Chartrand, to discuss current bear issues in Teton County, as well as solutions to human/bear conflicts.

Skinny Skis is sponsoring this event, which will be free and open to the public. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Teton Science Schools’ Jackson Campus, on July 11th. Refreshments will be served at 7 p.m. and the lecture starts at 7:30 p.m. Outdoor clothing and gear from Skinny Skis and Patagonia will be raffled and proceeds will benefit the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation. For more information contact: Melissa@jhwildlife.org or call the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation at 739-0968.
