Livestock guardian animals will be on display at the Sublette County Fair this Saturday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kids should come by the display in the grassy arena to meet Rena, a five-month old Akbash pup, and Roo, a yearling burro. Both Rena and Roo are sheep guardians, and their herd of six orphan lambs will accompany them to the fair. Kids are encouraged to stop by and pet the animals and learn about livestock guardians.
The educational display will be hosted by Cat Urbigkit at the invitation of the Sublette County Fair. Her non-fiction books about agriculture will be for sale at the display as well, including the new book, “Cattle Kids: A year on the western range,” which features a bunch of Sublette County kids.
Urbigkit will also host a lamb lead show for kids under the age of five. The kids will get to “show” a lamb while feeding it a bottle of milk. Parents, don’t forget your cameras for this fun event that will begin at noon in the grassy arena.
