The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the east and west sides of the Wind River Mountains and other areas of western and central Wyoming through midnight tonight (Thursday, July 26). The Watch also includes the lower elevations of Johnson and Natrona Counties, the Lander foothills, Big Horn Mountains, Casper Mountain and the Green and Rattlesnake Mountains

A very moist air mass will once again exist over western and central Wyoming, increasing the potential for very heavy rain producing thunderstorms with some localized flash flooding possible. Frequent lightning and wind gusts to 35 mph can be expected, said the NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook statement.

Drier air will begin to move into Wyoming Friday decreasing the chance for showers and thunderstorms. Isolated to scattered activity is expected Friday, then becoming mainly isolated over the weekend. Spotters are asked to report any flooding today and tonight.
