Rendezvous
by Pam McCulloch
July 16, 2007

The 2007 Green River Rendezvous was one of the most exciting yet! If you don't count the part about the wildfire that almost burned right into town, there were plenty of events during the annual four-day celebration in Pinedale.

Green River Rendezvous Days is a celebration of our heritage and the early history of our valley. This valley was the heart of the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade, where trappers and traders in the early 1800s found a "gold mine" of riches here, in the form of beaver. They trapped the beaver that lived in the streams and traded them during the Rendezvous, held at various locations each July. This brief, but colorful era, lasted only 16 years. Six of the Rendezvous gatherings were held in the Upper Green, at the confluence of Horse Creek and the Green River, near present day Daniel, Wyoming.

Events during Rendezvous Days include living history presentations at the Museum of the Mountain Man, a parade down main street in Pinedale, the 3-day Rendezvous Rodeo, live music, the elaborate and colorful Rendezvous Pageant, a pancake breakfast, pie sale, beard shaving, kid's fishing derby, and more. It's the biggest party of the year in Pinedale!

If you plan to come for next year's Rendezvous Days, be sure to make your lodging reservations well in advance (months ahead!) to be sure you get a room for the fun!
