The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) wants to make the public aware they will be doing resurfacing of a number of roads in Sublette and Lincoln counties during the month of August. Over 43 miles of various roads will be resurfaced through a district-wide chip sealing project. Intermountain Slurry Seal, Inc of Salt Lake City, Utah, will be doing the work.
“Chip sealing highways extends the life of the pavement by five to 10 years and provides some skid resistance. The project is funded by the additional funds made available to the Wyoming Department of Transportation by the 2007 Legislature,” said a WYDOT media release.
The schedule for the Chip Sealing is: Aug. 1, US 191 milepost 88 to 99 Aug. 3, US 191 milepost 123 to 128 Aug. 6, WYO 351, milepost 0 to 13 Aug. 8, US 189 milepost 91 to 97 Aug. 10, US 189 milepost 68 to 77
Fog sealing protects the shoulders from water by using an oil sealant to seal out the water. The schedule for Fog Sealing is: Aug. 11, on US 191, milepost 88 to 99 Aug. 12, US 191, milepost 123 to 128 Aug. 15, US 189 milepost 91 to 97 Aug. 16, US 189 milepost 68 to 77
The speed limit in the work area will be reduced and traffic under the control of flaggers. Motorists are advised to slow down and obey the posted speed limits on chip sealed highways to avoid broken windshields.
The $1,089,905 contract is expected to be completed Aug. 17, weather permitting.
