(Pinedale) – The Salt Lick Fire on the Bridger-Teton National Forest began around 2:00pm Wednesday afternoon 31-miles north west of the town of Pinedale, Wyoming and 5-miles south west of Green River Lakes. The fire is roughly 2000-acres and has not experienced much growth. There was some moisture received on the fire today due to small rain showers.

The rapid growth of the fire last night led officials to evacuate the Red Cliff Bible Camp and in holdings, which are 3-1/2 miles from Highway 352.

Additionally, officials are encouraging the residents of 30 homes at the junction of Highway 352 and Forest Road 680, known as the Red Hills area, to prepare for possible evacuations.

The Jim Creek Road and the Moose Gypsum Road have both been closed due to the fire.

The fire danger for the Bridger-Teton is listed as extreme. The cause of this fire is still undetermined; however, officials are calling it suspicious, due to the close proximity to a camp fire ring.

The Salt Lick Fire is burning in lodgepole pine and beetle-killed trees. There are 20 firefighters working the fire, including 1 helicopter, 2 Forest Service engines and 5 Sublette County engines. For more information, visit www.inciweb.org (Salt Lick fire).
