August 22, 2007
The Bridger-Teton National Forest took control of two fires Monday after the Type 2 Incident Management Teams that were aiding the Forest left for other assignments.
The Middle Fire, 10-miles southeast of Alpine, Wyoming was contained on August 20 at 2,721 acres. This lightning-caused fire is still being patrolled by a 20 person crew of firefighters and one fire engine. The firefighters are looking for any remaining hotspots on the fire and making sure that the fire does not spread beyond the established fire line.
The Hardscrabble Fire is 30 miles northwest of Dubois, Wyoming is 95% contained and is being patrolled by 10 firefighters and assorted support apparatus. This lightning-caused fire has burned 3075 acres. Firefighters will fly over the fire with infrared imaging instruments in order to locate and extinguish any remaining hotspots on the fire.
