The Wind River Mountains got their first dusting of the season on Sunday night. Rain mixed with snow is possible during the early part of the week. Temperatures should warm up slightly by mid-week into the 60s. Night-time temperatures will hover around freezing. Outdoor recreationists should prepare for a mixed bag of winter and late-fall weather conditions, with rain and snow possible. This photo shows the view from the webcam at the lodge at White Pine Ski Area and Resort early Monday morning. Snow usually arrives to stick for good in October, with downhill skiing season starting on Thanksgiving weekend in November. We'll still probably get a late Indian Summer before winter grabs hold here for good.

The National Weather Service advises that snow is expected to occur in the mountain elevations of western Wyoming with possible total snow accumulations of 6 to 8 inches by evening at elevations above 8,000 feet.

Travelers are cautioned to expect snow and low visibility over South Pass today (Monday, September 24), as well as over Togwotee Pass. A Snow Advisory is in effect for the east side of the Wind River Mountains, the Rattlesnake Range and the Green Mountains on the east side of the Continental Divide in central Wyoming.
