Big Piney Loses in State Playoffs
Big Piney 14 - Wright - 44
by Barbara Mullin
October 27, 2007
Coach Eskelsen's Comments:
Unfortunate loss for the Punchers especially the seniors who played their last game. Wright’s balanced attack of running and passing kept our defense guessing all day. I thought our offense did OK considering all of the changes that had to be made. Mike Forrester performed well in his first ever start at QB. The fullback moved to QB threw for two touchdowns and ran the offense as well as could be expected. Rod Feiock, another newcomer to the starting line-up, collected a touchdown pass, the first of his career. Ben Howard picked up the slack and gained 58 yds in some real hard running. Drew Guenthner added 78 yds to his season total and ran well. Defensively, John Colton led with an outstanding 26 defensive points. Fellow linebacker Ben Howard also did well with 14 points and Chris Manning had 7 tackles for 11 defensive points. With all the defensive changes made, I thought we did alright considering Wright’s balanced attack. It is always tough to say good-bye to a good group of seniors. These boys combined for 28 wins and two state championships under their belt. The young Punchers appear ready to carry on the tradition and many of them saw considerable time in this game. Also want to acknowledge assisting coaches Kevin Ruff and Cole Clifford for their work and efforts to make the season successful.
