Free Access Hunting on Private Land

A Hunter Management Area (HMA) is a parcel of land where the Wyoming Game & Fish Department facilitates management of hunters in return for free public access to hunt. The area may refer solely to private lands or a combination of private, state trust land and federal land within ranch boundaries.
Hunters must obtain written permission to hunt on these areas. The hunter may obtain permission by following the instructions listed in the Check Station Dates & Times. The hunter pays no fee for receiving permission for access.
In Sublette County, HMAs are available for ranches around Big Piney and in the Chimney Butte area east of Boulder. Click on this link for general information about 2007 Hunter Management Areas.

CHIMNEY BUTTE HUNTER MANAGEMENT AREA:
The Chimney Butte HMA ranches include the Flying Fish Hook, East Fork Cattle Co., Silver Creek Ranch (James A. Baker, III), Frosty Hittle & Susie Michnevich, Jensen Ranch, Dan Smyth and Mark Jones.
Chimney Butte Hunter Management Area provides access to hunt antlerless elk in Hunt Area 98, Type 1, 2, and 6 licenses from November 16 – December 31, 2007 during the specific species season as published in the 2007 Game and Fish Regulations. One hundred (100) permission slips will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. Silver Creek Ranch is open November 16 - 30, 2007. Silver Creek Ranch is closed December 1 - 31, 2007.
