New WYDOT webcam to be installed east of Evanston
October 2, 2007
The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded nearly $10.8 million during their meeting in Cody last month for various road-related construction and upgrade projects across the state.
One of the projects includes a new Web camera that will be installed at the Divide Interchange on I-80 about seven miles east of Evanston. The new cam will give WYDOT maintenance personnel and travelers a view of road and weather conditions in the Three Sisters area. The $125,000 contract for the installation was awarded to Custom Lighting Services of Kansas City, Mo., and the work is expected to be done by June 30, 2008.
WYDOT has webcams installed at strategic locations on the major interstates around the state, as well as non-interstate locations. Near Pinedale, there is a WYDOT webcam at the junction of US Highway 191 and the Cora Highway 352 junction, six miles west of Pinedale. The cams update approximately every 10 minutes.
