A pack of wolves entered a small village in Alaska, attacking area sled dogs, leaving about six dead and mauling nearly a dozen more.

In related news, a new source in Finland is reporting that wolves have killed an exceptional number of dogs in one community this fall. There are about 250 wolves in Finland, and government officials have been taking extraordinary measures this year to save reindeer herds from maurading wolf packs, which have hit the herds hard this winter. Herdsmen have brought the reindeer herds into protective pens to begin expensive feeding operations, months ahead of schedule, in order to save the animals.
