Upper Wohelo Falls

Even though winter has started to reclaim the mountain country, Dave Bell decided to attempt a hike to the summit of Wyoming Peak (11,378 ft) in the Wyoming Range on Saturday.

He said, "The snow is deep at the 10,200 feet mark in this area of the Wyoming Range...At the intersection of the Middle Piney Lake trail and the Wyoming Range Trail, it was about 18-24 inches deep. It was significant--and really surprised me. There was snow all the way from the parking lot, except in a couple places--that also surprised me. I had felt I could mostly hike till the shoulder, just shy of the Wyo Range junction, where there is always snow, and then strap on the crampons and ice ax for the final summit push. Well, I was fooled. Great day though.”
