EnCana supports Curran-Seeley’s treatment program
Contributes more than $13,000 to substance abuse treatment service provider in Sublette County

(Pinedale) – In an effort to help reduce crime by repeat offenders, EnCana contributed more than $13,000 to the Curran-Seeley Foundation of Pinedale. The contribution will help support an intensive outpatient treatment program and build a strong support system for families and friends of offending community members.

A state certified regional provider of substance abuse treatment and prevention services, Curran-Seeley provides education and recovery assistance to people affected by drug and alcohol use. At the request of the Sublette County Commissioners, the County Drug Court and community members, Curran-Seeley opened a Pinedale office in September.

“Statistics show that substance abuse in Sublette County is growing,” said Curran-Seeley Executive Director Ed Wigg. “It’s our responsibility to address this need and let people know help is available and recovery is attainable.” The provider aims to reduce repeat rates, out-of-home placement of children and high school dropout rates. “Treatment has shown to improve family and home environments which then reduces out of home placements for children and reduces tension and stress contributing to drop-out rates,” informed Wigg.

Curran-Seeley applied for funds from the State, then looked to the oil and gas industry to provide the required match funds. The Sublette Community Partnership, a task group formed to unite Sublette County, the oil and gas industry and the University of Wyoming through community development projects, helped facilitate the funding between EnCana and Curran-Seeley.

“We requested gas field operators to provide funds to assist with treatment,” said Wigg. “EnCana’s additional matching funds will enable us to continue to enhance our services. And Laurie Latta, Betty Fear and the Sublette Community Partnership’s involvement has really helped move this program forward.”

“Curran-Seeley will provide long-term, on-going support groups for those trying to improve their quality of life,” said EnCana Jonah Field Operations Leader Chris House. “In supporting Curran-Seeley, we are supporting the safety of our community and the well-being of Sublette County residents. It also demonstrates that industry, government and communities can work together on collective issues.”

In addition to offering the outpatient program and serving as the treatment provider for the Sublette County Drug Court, Curran-Seeley also offers evaluations and assessments, DUI classes and aftercare services.
