Original post November 10, 2007 | Updated November 11, 2007
Sunday, November 11, 2:30 PM Update: Snow advisory remains in effect until 8:00 pm MST this evening. A strong Pacific storm system will continue to bring light to moderate snowfall today with significant accumulations expected over the Wind River Mountains. Togwotee Pass is already slick due to snow-packed roads. Snow was also falling on South Pass. Periods of light to moderate snow, with occasional bursts of heavy snow, are expected to continue through the evening hours. Snowfall totals of 6 to 10 inches are expected above 7500 feet, with up to 6 inches below. The snow is expected to taper off to light snow by around 8:00 pm MST. Those traveling over South Pass and Togwotee Pass will encounter snow-packed roads today. A Snow Advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. ______________________________________________________ Saturday, November 10:
The National Weather Service is advising that a Snow Advisory is in effect for the Gros Ventre and Teton Mountains through 11:00 AM Sunday morning, November 11th.
Periods of moderate snow will continue across the Western mountains Saturday night. Snow is expected to continue through Sunday morning. Expect 6-9 inches of snowfall to accumulate across the Gros Ventre Range and the Tetons by 11:00 AM Sunday, along with 4-6 inches of snow below 8,000 feet over the same area.
A cold Pacific storm system is expected to impact the area Sunday into Monday morning, bringing the potential for significant snowfall, especially across the Absaroka and Wind River Mountains late Sunday into Sunday night. Amounts of 4 to 8 inches are possible with locally up to a foot of snow, especially over higher elevations of the eastern slopes of the Wind River Range.
Rain is expected to change to snow several hours behind the passage of the front Sunday afternoon East of the Continental Divide.
This is a major change to colder and wetter weather Sunday into Monday morning. There is also a chance for more snow on the horizon for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
