White Pine Ski Area & Resort: Located 10 miles from Pinedale in the Wind River Mountains of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. “We hope for a tentative opening the week of Thanksgiving,” said White Pine Marketing Director Mary Thompson. They have done extensive trail work during the summer cutting brush and trees and moving rocks. “We’ve put a lot of energy putting the trails in shape,” she said. Crews have also done a lot of work on the mogul course and free-style jump hill.
The Ski Shop is now open 7-days a week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Call the Ski Shop at 307-367-7222 for more info. Lunch is served daily. Fine casual dining is available Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. White Pine also has a busy Christmas party season scheduled. A few dates are still available. Call right away if you want to book your holiday party there. Catering services are also available.
“We have a Youth Lease Package for skiers and snowboarders,” Thompson said. This program starts at $150 and includes all the equipment kids need for the season. If the kids outgrow their boots, they can come in and trade them out for a bigger size. It’s a great program to meet the needs of families with growing kids."
If new families in the area have kids interested in skiing or snowboarding, the Sublette County Ski and Snowboard Association is worth checking out. They offer lessons and competitions. “It is a terrific way for kids to progress to an intermediate level very quickly,” said Thompson. (For more info on the SCSSA, call Ward Wise at 307-231-9419 or Cassy Johnston at 307-231-1176.)
White Pine offers luxury slope-side duplex log cabins located near the lodge. These cabins are tucked in a beautiful wooded setting. They are furnished and have a kitchen, loft and fireplace, with one or two-bedrooms available. Call the business office at 307-367-6606 ext 6 for more information, current rates and reservations.
