December 11, 2007
Sublette County held its Republican Party precinct caucuses on Tuesday, December 11th, at meeting places around the county. Because the county is so rural, town precincts combined to meet in Pinedale, Big Piney and Daniel. The Marbleton, Big Piney and Marbleton North precincts were held at the Big Piney Library with seven people attending representing the three precincts. Nancy Espenscheid served as Chairman for the Big Piney caucus.
The Daniel caucus combined Bondurant, Daniel and Cora, with four people attending at the Community Center. Pinedale included Boulder and Pinedale West, with 22 people attending in the Pinedale Library. The caucuses were open to all registered Republicans of Sublette County. Each caucus elected county convention delegates and resolutions/platforms were entertained.
The Sublette County Republican caucus will be held on January 5th at the Sublette County Courthouse in Pinedale. The State Republican convention will be held in May in Rock Springs. Wyoming is the first state in the country to hold their precinct caucuses for the upcoming Presidential election, jumping ahead of the traditional March caucuses in order to get the state more attention from the candidates.
The Democratic Party will hold its caucuses in March, 2008.
