(Laramie) - Students from the University of Wyoming College of Agriculture’s Department of Renewable Resources took top places in all categories against students from Chadron State College of Nebraska at a recent competition in Lander.

The meeting, “Wyoming's Wildlife Habitat: From the Ground Up,” was attended by members of the Wyoming Chapters of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, Society for Range Management and The Wildlife Society.

Mae Peterson of Pinedale, a senior in rangeland ecology and watershed management, won the two individual competitions and was on the first-place Rangeland Cup team.

Results of the student contests are:

Plant Identification -- First, Peterson; second, Sarah Hanlon, Cheyenne; third, Sage Askin, Douglas.

Undergraduate Range Management Examination (URME) -- First, Peterson; second, Lucas Bindel, Greeley, Colo.; third, Hanlon.

Rangeland Cup -- First, University of Wyoming, Peterson; Rives White, Daniel; Dusty Smith, Santa Fe, N.M.; Landon Smith, Holyoke, Colo.

UW also won the URME team competition.
