by Bridger-Teton National Forest
January 3, 2008
The Bridger-Teton National Forest will host two public meetings concerning the potential relocation of the Forest Supervisor’s Office to a new location in Western Wyoming. The Forest Supervisor’s Office is presently located in downtown Jackson, Wyoming and is the administrative hub for the six district offices located across the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
In July 2007, the Bridger-Teton began analyzing the options available for relocating the Supervisor’s Office to a town other than Jackson. Several communities are being considered for the new Supervisor’s Office building including the towns of Jackson, Pinedale, Afton, and Alpine, Wyoming.
No decision has been made whether to relocate the office or not, and the Supervisor’s Office could remain in Jackson, either at the present site or at a different location in the town.
The intent of the public meetings is to gather public input on the potential relocation of the Supervisor’s Office.
MEETINGS: Wednesday, February 6, 2008: Afton, Wyoming 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Afton Town Hall, 416 North Washington Street.
Thursday, February 7, 2008: Jackson, Wyoming in the cafeteria at the Jackson Hole High School from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
The Regional Forester for the Intermountain Region, Harv Forsgren, will make the decision on where the Supervisor’s Office will be located. The decision should be announced by late winter.
