The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports that on Feb. 5, USDA Wildlife Services personnel confirmed that a wolf killed a newborn calf and a 400-pound calf on private land near La Barge. One black wolf was seen at the depredation site. Several depredations (including cattle and sheep) have occurred in this area over the last two years. FWS has requested Wildlife Services remove the wolf or wolves present on the property.

On Feb. 7, Wildlife Services confirmed a calf was killed by a lone wolf on private property west of Cody. A single mangy black wolf was killed by Wildlife Services at the depredation site. The wolf was in very poor condition suffering from severe mange and injured hip.
