US 26/89 through the Snake River Canyon was closed Thursday afternoon between Hoback Junction and Alpine. This is the view of the closed road, looking east into the canyon from Alpine around 3:00 on Thursday, February 7th.

Thursday, February 7, 3:17PM Update: US 26/89 between Hoback Junction and Alpine Junction through the Snake River Canyon is ROAD CLOSED. US 191/189 between Pinedale and Bondurant has No Unnecessary Travel advisories. Interstate 80 has rapidly changing conditions for Road Closures due to slick roads and blowing snow.
Thursday, February 7, 12:49PM Update: Wyoming Department of Transportation has posted “No Unnecessary Travel” advisories to US 191/189 between Pinedale to Bondurant. Road conditions are slick with drifted and blowing snow, snowfall and limited visibility.
According to WYDOT, the road is open, but travel is not recommended due to hazardous driving conditions. “Only the most urgent of situations should warrant travel in a No Unnecessary Travel advisory. Drivers who attempt such travel should be familiar with local conditions and be very experienced with winter driving. Please keep in mind that by choosing to travel during hazardous conditions, you may be interfering with maintenance personnel and their efforts to improve highway safety.”
