Snow Advisory
More snow on the way, then a break for the weekend
February 13, 2008
Tuesday was almost spring-like, however more winter is on the way. The National Weather Service out of Riverton has issued a Snow Advisory for the Wind River Mountains, Wyoming and Salt River Ranges through mid-day Wednesday. The Snow Advisory is for the western mountains and valleys for late Tuesday evening.
A Pacific storm system will bring snow to the western and northern mountains with snow continuing through much of Wednesday night. The western mountains may see 5 to 10 inches of snow with 3 to 6 inches expected in the valleys. Snowfall in the Wind River Mountains is expected to be from 4 to 8 inches.
High temperature for Wednesday is expected to be around 27, with wind chill values as low as -20. It will be blustery with increasing winds. Thursday will be partly cloudy with a daytime high around 19 degrees F. The National Weather Service advises drivers to be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities and to use caution while driving.
The good news is that later in the week looks to be much better with sunshine and temperatures between 25 to near 31. Night-time temps will be in the single digits. This weekend is shaping up to have blue skies for skiing and snowmobiling plans! Monday, President’s Day is forecast to be sunny with a day-time high around 31.
So a bit more winter this week, then things get less wintery for about a week and into the weekend. See the related links below for more information about weather updates, road conditions, and current views via the area webcams.
