(Rock Springs) - Several gas transmission pipelines were completed in 2007 and others are proposed for 2008 within the BLM Rock Springs Field Office.
Questar Overthrust Pipeline constructed a 77-mile, 36-inch diameter natural gas pipeline between the Rock Springs compressor station and Wamsutter. The pipeline is a component of the 795-mile Rockies Express pipeline that will transport natural gas to Ohio. Colorado Interstate Gas Company completed their 125-mile, 30-inch diameter natural gas pipeline from Vernal, Utah to the Kanda Compressor station south of Rock Springs. The pipeline runs parallel to existing buried pipelines along U.S. Highway 191 South. Overland Pass pipeline construction began in fall 2007 and completion of the liquids pipeline is expected in spring or summer of 2008. The 20-inch diameter pipeline transport natural gas liquids for 750 miles from the Opal Gas Plant to Conway, Kan. Pipeline construction is currently on hold due to seasonal winter wildlife restrictions. Questar Gas Management has proposed to construct 100 miles of 30-inch diameter natural gas pipeline as part of the Rendezvous 6 Pipeline Project. The pipeline will begin at the Gobblers Knob Compressor Station in Sublette County, extend south on the east side of Fontenelle Reservoir and terminate at the Blacks Fork Gas Plant in Sweetwater County. Construction is anticipated to begin in early spring 2008 and will conclude in the fall. Jonah Gas Gathering Company has proposed a 45-mile, 30-inch natural gas pipeline to extend from the existing Bird Canyon Compressor Station to the Opal Gas Plant. Pipeline construction is expected to begin in spring or summer of 2008.
