Scott Almdale was up the Hoback Canyon a couple of weeks ago and snapped this picture of Granite Creek where it flows into the Hoback River. “I caught a glimpse of huge snowpack being melted and broken up by the rising river water from underneath. It was interesting to see different snowpack formations along the river banks and to see a snow bridge that was formed over the Granite Creek.”

Scott also saw about eight bighorn sheep eating grass and resting on a hill slope while he was driving US 191/189 in Hoback Canyon between Pinedale and Jackson. “I would normally see one or two sheep browsing in that area. I was lucky that day to see so many in one area. I guess they were affected by the spring fever.”
