Pinedale BLM seeks comment on proposed Sand/Gravel Pit expansion
by Bureau of Land Management
April 30, 2008

Koch Construction, Inc. of Daniel, Wyo. is proposing to expand its existing James Gravel Pit from 10 to 54 acres. This proposed expansion is located on a 54-acre parcel of land with private surface ownership. The Pinedale Field Office is seeking comments through May 15, 2008.

The mineral rights are retained by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The mining permit area for mining of the sand and gravel is located in Sublette County. The area is located one mile west from Daniel Junction and 0.5 miles north of Horse Creek Road (County Road 23-354).

The mining of sand and gravel began in 2004 and is scheduled to continue until 2014. The land will be reclaimed to grazing after mining. The original permit was approved for 10 acres with an additional 44 acres of expansion. An environmental assessment will be prepared to assess the environmental impacts to this area. The expansion of the sand and gravel pit will sustain the current demands and needs of industrial clients.
