Forest Wood Permits available in June in Big Piney
by Bridger-Teton National Forest
May 14, 2008
(Big Piney) – District Ranger Greg Clark of the Big Piney District on the Bridger-Teton National Forest says fire wood permits for private use will go on sale in the Big Piney office on June 2, 2008 on a limited basis for the month of June. Due the current road conditions, access is very limited and until conditions dry some, gathering of fuel wood would be difficult. A schedule will be published listing when permits will be available in June in Big Piney.
When gathering firewood, permits allow for the harvest of down or standing dead wood only. All wood gathered must be kept to a length of 8 feet or less. Firewood permits are a service offered by the U.S. Forest Service and cost five dollars per cord with a minimum purchase of twenty dollars. Individuals may purchase up to ten cords per year for personal use.
