Update 3:40 PM May 26 2008: Upper Green River Basin, Green Mountains and Rattlesnake Range: SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FREMONT, SUBLETTE AND SWEETWATER COUNTIES. AT 336 PM MDT, NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A STRONG THUNDERSTORM NEAR STATE HWY 28 MILE MARKER 10, OR 38 MILES NORTH OF ROCK SPRINGS, MOVING NORTHEAST AT 19 MPH. HALF INCH HAIL AND WINDS AROUND 50 MPH ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM. RESIDENTS IN NORTHERN SWEETWATER, SOUTHEASTERN SUBLETTE AND SOUTHERN FREMONT COUNTIES, INCLUDING THE LOCATIONS OF STATE HWY 28 MILE MARKER 10 AND STATE HWY 28 MILE MARKER 20, SHOULD MONITOR THE WEATHER SITUATION CLOSELY. LISTEN FOR POSSIBLE WARNINGS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION SHOULD SEVERE WEATHER THREATEN. REPORT SEVERE WEATHER TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN RIVERTON AT 1-800-211-1448.
Update 2:30 PM, Monday, May 26, Memorial Day: The National Weather Service in Riverton is advising that showers and thunderstorms will develop across the Upper Green River basin and foothills Monday afternoon for Memorial Day. Showers and thunderstorms have developed across the Upper Green River basin and foothills shortly after 2 pm and are expected to continue through 4:30 pm MDT Monday.
Thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy rain, small hail, frequent lightning and wind gusts to 40 mph. Rainfall amounts of 1/4 to 1/2 inch are possible in heavier showers and thunderstorms.
