The Bondurant Barbeque is the Community Club’s biggest annual fundraiser. The first one was held Aug. 3, 1941, upon completion and consecration of St. Hubert’s, built by local ranchers who volunteered their time and energy to cut and skid native pine logs to this beautiful setting by the Hoback River. The church was funded through the good will of the bishops of the state and national Episcopal Churches. Many original furnishings were designed, crafted or donated by Hoback Basin residents.
The church is more than a religious center; it is also a social and philanthropic hub for Bondurant residents and friends of the small Hoback town.
For years, generous ranch families have donated the beef for the barbeque and, as has been done for the last 67 years, the Community Club provides homemade salads and desserts. This year two beeves are being donated by Stan and Carol Thomas, owners of the Little Jennie Ranch, and St. Hubert’s Episcopal Church.
Proceeds from the barbeque help provide upkeep on the church grounds and the old log library. The Community Club also donates to different causes and helps local families and church members in times of need.
St. Hubert’s offers a morning prayer every Sunday at 11 a.m., June through September, led by Deacon Dennis Johnson, vicar.
On June 29, the service will be held at noon, with barbeque dished up beginning at 12:30. We are pleased that the Rt. Rev. Bruce Caldwell, Wyoming’s Episcopal Bishop, will join us for the service and festivities this year.
This year, the Bondurant Community Club is thrilled to announce that Jackson singer/songwriter Judd Grossman will make a special musical appearance at the barbeque, along with the local favorite band, “Legend.” There’s loads of fun planned all afternoon with kids’ games and activities – face painting, a hay maze, party bouncers, fire trucks, a kids corral and more.
Bring your lawn chairs or blankets, bring your appetite, and spend the afternoon in beautiful Bondurant – there’s something fun planned for everyone!
