At the close of business at 5:00 PM on Friday, May 30th, the curtain came down on the filing window for those seeking to have their name on the Primary Election ballot, and in Sublette County, five candidates are seeking one position, for County Commissioner. Filing on the Republican side were incumbent John Linn and Cat Urbigkit, with David M. Smith adding his name to the list on Friday afternoon. On the Democrat Side, Courtney Skinner had filed, with Susan Kramer adding her name to the list on Friday afternoon. The three Republicans and the two Democrats will appear on their respective Primary Election ballots in Sublette County on August 19th, and the winner of each race will face each other during the General Election on November 4th.
Another contested race appeared during the final hour on Friday: Cindy Van added her name to the list during this final hour, to challenge incumbent Richard Kalber for a 4-year term on the Rural Health Care District. Since the Rural Health Care contest is a non-partisan contest, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and Independents will all be voting for one of these two persons during the upcoming election. (Editor’s correction 6/3/08: There are two positions for 4 years and one position for 2 years on the Rural Health Care District. Richard Kalber and Cindy Van have filed for each of the 4-year positions and Ken Shriver filed for the 2-year position. There is no contested race for the 4-year position, as originally stated in this article.) There was also a filing for the remainder of Judd Faler's term, which was created when Mr. Faler resigned. The position is currently held by Kenneth Shriver, who is unopposed in seeking election for this position.
