The Wyoming Solid Waste and Recycling Association (WSWRA) is requesting nominations and applications for their annual recycling awards. The awards are given every year to recognize individuals and organizations that have promoted recycling and diversion in the state. The awards are given in four categories: Recycler of the Year, Recycling Event, Recycling Education Program, and New Recycling Program.

In order to recognize recycling in the state, WSWRA created the new award categories. The changes were requested by WSWRA’s Recycling Task Force. The task force was created in 2006 to help recyclers throughout the state address issues and barriers to recycling as well as share information and ideas. “We want to recognize organizations and individuals for what they are doing in recycling,” stated Recycling Task Force co-chair Beth Andress. “So often we concentrate on what we’re not doing, that we forget to recognize what we’re currently doing. There are a lot of people out there working hard and operating some awesome programs” continued Andress.

WSWRA is comprised of cities, counties, businesses and individuals in the solid waste and recycling industry. Award nominees and applicants do not need to be members of WSWRA to apply for the awards.
