Special Olympics Wyoming meeting July 31
For Sublette County families and volunteers
July 19, 2008
Special Olympics Wyoming invites all Sublette County families and interested volunteers to attend an informational meeting on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the Sublette County Library beginning at 6:30 p.m. Jill Quinlan, Regional Coordinator, will provide information on the upcoming Special Olympics Fall Tournament scheduled for October 15, 16 and 17 in Casper, WY. All families of Special Olympics athletes, School Districts #1 and #9 Special Education Personnel and volunteers are invited to attend. Ms. Quinlan will also discuss the Special Olympics Wyoming Coaches Training scheduled for August 23, 2008 in Jackson, WY. The Coaches Training is an excellent opportunity for new coaches and seasoned volunteers to review Special Olympics 101 as part of the Coaches Certification process and is a great short course for coaches, families and volunteers to better understand what Special Olympics is all about. The general session is a required course for all new coaches/volunteers and must be completed every 3 years as a part of the recertification process. Each session will provide volunteers with the knowledge and experience to be an effective coach in their respective sport. The classroom session will include an overview of the events, equipment, clothing and rules. The practical skills session will include techniques, skills progression, safety and other issues pertaining to your sport and provide insights into how to coach athletes with intellectual disabilities in practice and competition. For more information contact Ms. Quinlan at 307-413-3921 or Special Olympics Wyoming at 1-800-735-8345.
