The silica fume bridge pour at milepost 39.82 on the northbound lane on US 191 scheduled for Friday morning has been delayed until Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7 a.m.
During the bridge pour, traffic will be reduced to a single lane, under the control of flaggers with reduced speeds at 10 m.p.h. This advisory will affect northbound and southbound traffic. During the first 24 hours following the pour, traffic must remain at 10 m.p.h. to allow the silica to cure. It is anticipated that the barriers will be removed a week after the pour and traffic restored to normal driving conditions.
In the event that it is raining or temperatures remain below 45 degrees at 7 a.m., the pour will be postponed.
Motorists are advised to obey posted speed limits, devote their full attention to the flaggers and changes in traffic patterns, traffic control devices, signing, and lane markings to get through the construction area safely. They should also increase their usual following distance, move into the correct lane well in-advance, restrict cell phone usage or other distractions, and be aware of their surroundings.
