The first in the Big Piney shallow field blew in at the Corder Place on December 4, 1938. Tons of ice covered the derrick before the well was shut down six weeks later. This is one of the historic photos about the early oil and gas industry on display at the Green River Valley Museum in Big Piney. The Museum held their final Open House on Tuesday, October 14th. The Museum is now closed for the season. They will reopen again on June 15, 2009. Admission is by donation. |
