(Rock Springs) Contractors for the Rock Springs Marginal Dewar Drive/Pilot Butte project are preparing to open parts of Interstate 80 during the week of Nov. 17.
During the early part of the week, at the Dewar Drive Exit, the eastbound off ramp will open to traffic and by mid week, the westbound on ramp will open. On the interstate, by midweek, the contractor will open the Dewar Drive section of the westbound lanes from project limits to College Drive.
At the Pilot Butte end of the project, the westbound ramps are scheduled to open by Nov. 21 and the contractor intends to be able to open that portion of the interstate before Thanksgiving. Until then, motorists are directed to use the Elk Street exit, Exit 104, to enter the city. Upon reopening, traffic will be running on the new concrete ramps and crossroad, though motorists can expect intermittent traffic control throughout the project.
On Dewar Drive, there will be intermittent concrete pours to fill in the gaps of concrete between the lanes on Dewar Drive. Motorists need to be alert for changes in traffic patterns while driving in the Dewar Drive area to accommodate paving, electrical work for the lighting and signals and sidewalk work.
