by Bureau of Land Management
December 17, 2008
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Pinedale Field Office announced the Notice of Availability (NOA) for its Resource Management Plan Record of Decision (ROD) today (Wednesday, December 17). Wyoming Acting State Director, Don Simpson, signed the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Pinedale Resource Management Plan (RMP), Nov.26, 2008.
"The BLM, local, state, and federal cooperators have worked together to develop a range of reasonable management alternatives for allocation of resources in the planning area," said Chuck Otto, Pinedale Field Office Manager. "This RMP provides future direction for managing the nearly 923 thousand acres of BLM-administered surface land and 1.2 million acres of BLM-administered mineral estate in the planning area," he said.
The approved RMP includes broad land use plan decisions that provide overall direction for management of resources and resource uses within the Pinedale Field Office (PFO) planning area. This area includes 922,880 acres of BLM-administered surface land and 1.2 million acres of BLM–administered mineral estate in Wyoming’s Sublette and Lincoln Counties.
Management actions outlined in the ROD include opportunities for energy and minerals development, as well as protection for wildlife, cultural properties, and special management areas. Although future on-the-ground development activities may take place in the area, the RMP does not give authorization to any specific development activities.
The ROD/Approved RMP is available at the BLM Pinedale Field Office and on the Pinedale RMP website: www.blm.gov/rmp/wy/pinedale/
