Golden eagle winter
by Cat Urbigkit
January 7, 2009
Golden eagles from more northern regions have migrated into Wyoming for the winter, joining up with some resident birds that do not leave the area. These birds of prey are attracted to carcasses of big game animals hit by vehicles on Sublette County roads and highways.
A pronghorn antelope buck carcass along Highway 351 attracted seven eagles Wednesday morning, including this golden that refused to give up the carcass, despite the presence of this photographer.
