Pinedale Nordic Ski Grooming Report, January 30
by Bob Barrett, Pinedale Ski Education Foundation
January 29, 2009
Up to a foot of new snow since last week has recharged the Nordic trail system and filled in bare spots that were starting to show. Plenty of fresh, soft snow arrived for the annual Special Olympics and again for the Pinedale 4th graders yearly cross-country ski program.
We’re back to grooming the CCC Pond Pathway with the PistenBully on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The wind is also back to rearranging the snowpack there almost daily.
The Wyoming Senior Games are coming to White Pine Ski Area beginning Wednesday, February 11. A number of Nordic ski events are included. The Biathlon is at noon on Thursday followed by the Alpine-Nordic-Snowshoe Relay at 2 P.M. Nordic classic and freestyle races of 2.5K and 5K will begin at 10 A.M. and noon on Friday. On Saturday, February 14, the 1st Annual White Pine Nordic Freestyle 15K Open Age Ski Race will take place at 10 A.M. just north of the parking area in Surveyor Park. The 15K racecourse is twice around the Tree Loop, Hummer and Moose Ridge trails. This event is included in the $30 registration fee for all Senior Winter Game participants. (Registration forms for the Senior Games are available at wyswintergames.com.) Non-Senior Games participants of all ages are welcome to compete for a $5 registration fee just prior to the race.
