January 7, 2009
According to an article in the Wyoming Business Report on January 5th, Lee Enterprises, the parent company of the Casper Star-Tribune newspaper, is having trouble generating enough revenue to meet its 2009 operating requirements. As a result of the financial belt tightening, the Casper Star-Tribune underwent significant format changes in 2008, including dropping some specialty sections and shrinking the size of the paper.
Lee Enterprises has 49 daily newspapers and many other weekly newspapers and specialty publications in 23 states. Lee is based in Davenport, Iowa, and their stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol LEE.
