WYDOT Road Construction contracts

Contracts totaling $31.1 million for 12 highway projects around the state, including five made possible by the additional funding the 2008 Legislature appropriated for highway construction, were awarded by the Wyoming Transportation Commission at its January meeting in Cheyenne.
Included in the schedule for the western Wyoming area are:
Farson area on WYO 28 Casper’s McMurry Ready-Mix won a $7.5 million contract for widening, pavement overlay and isolated reconstruction on 10 miles of WYO 28 east of Farson. The highway is carrying increased traffic and the widening will include 6-foot safety shoulders and added turn lanes. The project is being paid for with state legislative funds and the work is expected to be done by Oct. 31.
McMurry also won a $1.4 million contract for another overlay to address general maintenance concerns on 10 miles of WYO 28 northeast of its intersection with WYO 372. The state-funded project includes a completion date of Oct. 31.
Boulder area on US 191 Ten miles of US 191 south of Boulder will get a pavement overlay under a third contract awarded to McMurry. The $1.4 million project south of the highway’s junction with WYO 351 will include adding a turn lane at the intersection with James Fairbanks Lane, where a new industrial park is being developed. The highway section is carrying increased traffic volumes, including more trucks, and the project is being funded through the legislative appropriation. The contract completion date is Sept. 30.
