Fifty elk from three Boulder-area elk feedgrounds tested seropositive for the contagious disease brucellosis in the fourth year of testing. All the adult cows were sent to slaughter. State wildlife officials tested more than 420 adult female elk, of which 50 were found to test positive for the disease.
The testing program took place in January and February at the Muddy, Fall and Scab creeks elk feedgrounds.
