Rellstab family highlighted in article about Pinedale in Family Circle magazine
Family Circle magazine featured the Rellstab family from Pinedale in their March 2009 issue. The one-page article by Krista Meyerhoff appears on page 48.

Pictured in the photo are Jack, 7, Jamie, 8, Hattie, 13, Mariah, 17, and Leanne and Doug Rellstab. "Our family of six loves the secluded beaches and alpine setting of Fremont Lake, which is just 4 miles from our house," Leanne Rellstab wrote about why she thinks Pinedale is unique and her family enjoys living here.

The magazine has a feature section that invites people to write in and say why they should profile the town and highlighting the family in their magazine. The Rellstab family said they enjoy boating, fishing, soaking in Granite Hot Springs, living in their eco-friendly "green" home, eating at Rock Rabbit coffee shop, hosting mushers for the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race, attending Pinedale Fine Arts Council programs, and the children having the opportunity to participate in local theatrical performances.

Museum of the Mountain Man spotlighted in Wild West magazine
Wild West magazine did two double-page spreads for our area in their April, 2009 issue. One was on the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale (pages 66 & 67) and the other was on South Pass, Wyoming, which is a historic mining community at the southern end of the Wind River Mountain range (pages 62 & 63).

The article about the Museum of the Mountain Man was written by Linda Wommack. She gives a brief description of the historic significance of the Upper Green River Valley to the Rocky Mountain fur trade era which lasted from 1824 to 1840. Six of the sixteen rendezvous of the era were held in the valley of the Green River near Daniel and Pinedale. The Museum houses interpretive display on the North American fur trade, western exploration, regional Native American tribes and the early settlement of Sublette County. "You don’t have to be a modern-day mountain man to appreciate a museum dedicated to the likes of Ashley, Bridger, Kit Carson, Jedediah Smith, James Beckwourth, Thomas "Broken Hand" Fitzpatrick and Joe Meek," the article said. The full page color photo page features a beaver, beaver press, Jim Bridger’s prized 1853 rifle, handmade Green River knives, a beaver hat, moccasins, a mountain lion, and other artifacts on display at the museum. The Museum of the Mountain Man is open daily May through September, (www.MuseumoftheMountainMan.com)

South Pass in Wild West magazine
The article about South Pass was written by Johnny D. Boggs and appeared under the magazine’s "Ghost Town" section. It gives good information about the history of the area and glimpses into the town’s colorful past. South Pass City is now a state historic site which is open from May to September (www.SouthPassCity.com). The full page photo spread shows the 1890 Carissa Saloon, South Pass Hotel, the town’s liquor storage cabinet, a monument to Esther Hobart Morris (the nation’s first female justice of the peace), and the 1870 Sweetwater County Jail.
