(Jackson) – The Bridger-Teton National Forest will host a free training seminar for anyone interested in learning how to offer their goods or equipment up for contracts in the event of a fire or other emergency. The seminar will be offered Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Marbleton Town Hall in Marbleton, Wyoming at 6:00 pm; and on Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Wyoming Game & Fish building in Jackson, Wyoming at 10:00 am.
"The seminar is important for anyone that owns or has access to a water truck, dozers, bottle water, portable toilets, office equipment, and items like that which the Forest may need in the event of a large fire event," said Leslie Porter, Fire Business Manager for the Bridger-Teton. Participants in the seminar will learn about the dispatch priority process, how to make competitive solicitations, and about the agreements the Forest Service uses for purchasing and contracting for various supplies and services. "There are countless ways for businesses, suppliers and the general public to assist with supporting the Forest if a wildland fire event occurs in our area," said Porter. "By planning and getting signed up in advance, we might have a jump on things when the emergency hits," she said.
