March 15, 2009
Twenty- two young bull riders from across Wyoming and Colorado gathered at the Sublette County Ag Center March 7 & 8 for the second annual Diamond G Rodeo School, organized by Joe Gillis of Boulder. This school is organized for the interest of promoting rodeo and bull riding. There is no profit made from the school.
Bulls were provided by Ruby Rodeo Company from Riverton. They brought fifty bulls for the students to learn on by riding. During the school, 92 bulls were bucked out. The students rode the bucking machine in the morning each day then rode live bulls in the afternoon.
A free lunch provided, T-shirts and equipment were given away. The event was video-taped and each student will receive a clip of their rides.
Instructors included Joe Gillis, Buskin Wilson, Chad Raver and Jake Greenwood. The bull fighter was Tanner Melsether.
Sponsors included Wyoming High School Rodeo Association, Conoco-Phillips, Gene Leone (Worland), The Barn Door-Wendy Walter, and Ron Hosler. Several local volunteers and parents stepped in to help with the school as well.
