The work of local artist Sue Sommers of Pinedale has been selected for inclusion in the ninth annual Governor's Capitol Art Exhibition in Cheyenne and will be on display at the Wyoming State Museum from April 20th through June 6th. Ivar Zeile (pronounced eye-var zile) owner of the Plus Gallery in Denver served as the juror for this year's exhibition. Twenty six artists were selected out of the one hundred and eleven who applied.

"I'm always looking for something that's a little unusual. Something that pushes the genre a little bit. When you're looking at art from Wyoming I think a lot of times you truly feel you're going to see a lot of western art, but I was very happy to see there were quite a few works that were I felt were very contemporary and very well done."

An opening reception will be held at the State Museum on Friday, May 1st from 5 p.m. to 7 pm.

First Lady Nancy Freudenthal will award this year's purchase awards. The Bobby Hathaway Juror's Choice and People's Choice awards will also be presented. The reception is free and open to the public. For more information, log onto www.wyomuseum.org.
