(Lander) - The Wyoming Outfitters & Guides Association honored two Wyoming Game and Fish Department employees at their annual Winter Convention and Big Game Awards Banquet in Lander recently.

Pinedale game warden Brian Nesvik and Jackson wildlife biologist Doug Brimeyer were recognized by the Association for "their dedication and contributions to Wyoming’s treasured wildlife and public land resources."

After growing up in Wyoming and earning a bachelor’s degree in wildlife from the University of Wyoming, Nesvik fulfilled a life-long dream when hired in law enforcement by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department in 1995. He worked in Laramie, Glendo and Casper before being awarded his own warden district at Elk Mountain in 1998 where he served until 2004, when he was called to active duty as a Security Forces Company Commander with the Wyoming Army National Guard in Iraq. After serving one year in Iraq, Nesvik was selected to fill the South Pinedale warden district, where he continues to serve today.

He currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel and Commander of the 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery, Wyoming Army National Guard. During his upcoming 12-month deployment in April 2009, he will continue to serve as the battalion commander. He also serves as the current president of the Wyoming Game Warden’s Association. Nesvik was awarded the prestigious "Wildlife Officer of the Year" award from the Shikar Safari Club International in 2007. He and his wife, Penny, have three children, Brittany, Rudy and Aspen.

Doug Brimeyer is an Iowa native and attended college at the University of Montana where he received a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology in 1991. Soon after, he was hired by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department as a habitat project biologist in Jackson, working to improve big game winter ranges.

He was then promoted to a permanent wildlife biologist position, working in both Cheyenne and Newcastle before returning to Jackson in 1996, where he has served ever since. Brimeyer has successfully managed the area’s high-profile big game herds amidst the challenges of multiple land ownership and diverse public interests. He enjoys spending his free time hunting, fishing and camping with his wife, Jan, and two children, Kyle and Ashley.
