Comment sought on the James Gravel Pit proposed expansion
Pinedale BLM will accept comments through April 30th

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Pinedale Field Office is seeking comments on the 20-acre expansion of the existing James Gravel Pit located approximately 13 miles west of Pinedale, Wyo. The environmental assessment (EA) will be available for public review public review at the BLM Pinedale Field Office, or electronically at:
http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/field_offices/Pinedale.htm.
The EA will analyze the environmental impacts of the proposed gravel pit, resulting in either a "finding of no significant impact," which would allow the sale to proceed, or identifying potentially "significant impacts," which would require further evaluation in an environmental impact statement (EIS). Government agencies, the public and other interested parties are encouraged to participate in the EA process to ensure the best land use decisions are made.

The BLM manages more land – 258 million acres – than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western States, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM’s multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.
