This hawk seemed to be playing as he swooped up and down and over the undulating hills of this back road east of Big Piney last week. The roads are drying out in the valley and firm enough to drive on in many areas. Winter restrictions are still in place on the Mesa south of Pinedale for wildlife protection, prohibiting motorized vehicles on big game winter range areas.

These two moose were seen in a grove of cottonwood trees along the New Fork River on Saturday. The grass has just started to show signs of greening up. It will likely be several more weeks before leaves start coming out on shrubs and trees here.
