On Wednesday, May 13, students from the University of Wyoming music department visited Pinedale Elementary School to perform an opera version of the popular children’s book, "The Toughest Cowboy: Or How the West Was Won."

The performance was part of UW’s Opera in the Gym program in which college students travel the state of Wyoming and perform opera in elementary school gymnasiums to give young students a comedic and accessible introduction to opera.

Following the Pinedale performance, the group traveled to Big Piney and did the show all over again. When all’s said and done, the UW students will have performed the opera in almost 30 gymnasiums across the state.

The Opera in a Gym program was facilitated locally by the Pinedale Fine Arts Council.
