Update on Pinedale Elementary School air quality

May 12, 2009
Sublette County School District #1 Superintendent Doris Woodbury issued the following media release today (Tuesday, May 12) with an update on air quality at Pinedale Elementary School: ______________________________ Update on PES Air Quality: The community emergency management agencies and the district have not substantiated an air quality issue as the cause for the children feeling ill on Friday, 5/8/09. Checking of all heating equipment and air exchange systems took place on Friday, all weekend and all day Monday with the air quality monitoring continuing this week and possibly next week.
The Fire Department cleared the facility for occupancy on Monday because the monitoring had not detected any problems.
The initial location of the illness was in the Wrangler Gym commons area where we were holding the "Wax Museum" activity. It was very warm in there with many people viewing the exhibits and the children have to stand very still during the activity. This may be part of the puzzle.
We are meeting with the community agencies tomorrow morning to review all reports and evidence. We may have a determination of what caused the illness at that time.
